President Bush in Mongolia

I'd feel I'd regret it if I didn't designate a post to President Bush's historic visit to our beloved Mongolia, the first of such a visit of any sitting American President. Of the dozens of articles I've found reporting on the visit, I like this one from CNN for it's focus on the culture Pres. Bush was exposed to and also for it's colorful slideshow. We're hoping this is the first of many and a sign of good things to come economically and politically for Mongolia. I have been critical of the Mongolian President Enkhbayar in the past for his repression of our church and other Christian churches in Mongolia, but from what I've read of him since his election, I have been impressed by his pro-democracy stance and for his efforts to fight corruption in his country. In my opinion, the three biggest problems in Mongolia holding them back are 1) alcoholism and domestic violence (I group them because they often go hand in hand) 2)corruption and 3) a weak financial/banking system with ridiculously high lending rates, discouraging entrepreneurship and slowing growth. Hopefully, the powers that be in Mongolia will capitalize on the increased exposure and support from the U.S. as of recent years and create a more stable political and economic environment. Doka and I are always praying for Mongolia. Be sure to check out this link for the best pics of Pres. Bush's visit. Scroll all the way to the right to see all 50 or so pics.
